Unhook
Unhook is a browser extension designed to reduce YouTube distractions by selectively hiding attention-grabbing elements from the interface. The extension gives users fine-grained control over which YouTube features appear, allowing them to hide recommended videos, comments, notifications, and other potentially distracting elements. The core functionality focuses on eliminating the algorithmic recommendations that can lead to endless viewing sessions. Users can choose to hide the home page recommendations, sidebar suggestions, end screen recommendations, and even comments, transforming YouTube into a more intentional viewing platform where only specifically searched content is accessible. Unhook includes productivity features like hiding the home feed by default, automatically redirecting home page visits to subscription feeds, and removing autoplay functionality. These changes help users maintain focus on their intended content without falling into recommendation rabbit holes. The extension is completely free and open-source, with no data collection or monetization. It works across Chrome, Firefox, and Edge browsers, providing a consistent experience for users regardless of their preferred platform.

Just nowOkay, so I'm really liking Unhook so far. Being able to nuke the recommended videos is a game-changer for my study sessions -- I'm way less likely to get sucked into random stuff now. The open-source thing is also awesome; it's nice to know what's going on under the hood. One small thing: could you maybe add a quick toggle to temporarily re-enable recommendations? Sometimes I *do* want to browse, you know?
