Rectangle
Rectangle is a lightweight window management tool for macOS that provides precise control over window positioning and sizing through keyboard shortcuts. The application addresses the limitations of macOS's native window management, enabling users to quickly arrange windows in halves, thirds, quarters, or custom positions without manual dragging and resizing. The core functionality allows users to snap windows to predefined screen regions using customizable keyboard shortcuts, improving workflow efficiency for multitasking. Rectangle includes move and resize operations for all screen edges and corners, along with additional actions like centering windows or maximizing height while maintaining width. Rectangle's advanced features include window history to cycle through previous window positions, gap adjustments between windows and screen edges, and specific application exclusions for programs that need special handling. The application can automatically hide the menu bar icon for a completely unobtrusive presence while retaining full functionality. Unlike many productivity tools, Rectangle is completely free and open-source, with no premium tiers or subscription requirements. The application is designed to be extremely lightweight with minimal resource usage, ensuring it doesn't impact system performance even when running continuously.

Just nowOkay, so I've been using Rectangle for a few days now, mostly for writing code while also having my browser open, and it's pretty neat! Snapping windows to halves and thirds is SO much faster than dragging them around. I haven't really gotten into the custom shortcuts yet, but even the default ones are a big help. One thing though – is there a way to make it remember the last position of a window when I reopen it? That would be awesome.

Just nowWow, Rectangle is a game-changer for my workflow; keyboard shortcuts for window snapping? So much faster than messing around with dragging windows, and it's way less clunky than using BetterSnapTool or Magnet. Finally, a free tool that actually gets it!
